  7. The WangDAT Model 2600 5.25-inch, half-high computer DAT drive was developed to
  8. meet the industry demand for higher capacity and performance. The Model 2600
  9. delivers 3 GB of removable storage at transfer rates above 30 MB per minute, 50
  10. percent faster than standard 8mm tape drives in only half the physical space.
  11. Featuring a look-aside implementation of data compression that guarantees no
  12. data expansion, the Model 2600 offers the highest level of compression
  13. efficiency available. Onboard data buffering of 768 KB and efficient tape
  14. repositioning underpin this drive's outstanding performance. The Model 2600
  15. utilizes the industry-accepted Stac 9703 compression coprocessor, incorporating
  16. a variant of the LZ1 algorithm, proven reliable by nearly one million users.
  17. The LZ1 approach is able to achieve high compression ratios even for data files
  18. that change their nature abruptly.
